I'm not an III user but I'm trying to set up z39.50 searches going
from our system to an Innopac system.

For each record retrieved from the Innopac system we would like to
see their bibliographic record number (.b number). This other system
is acting as a union catalogue for our region and it is quicker and
more efficient to refer to titles by their Innopac system number
which provides a unique identifier for our purposes.

I'm not yet fully familiar with the z39.50 protocol but I understand
that it only delivers the marc record plus holdings details (in some
cases)? I would expect that the Innopac bibliographic record number
is not part of the marc record. In this case, does anyone know if the
Innopac z39.50 server can be set up to send the .b number as part of
the marc record - maybe in a 9XX field??

I'd be grateful for any information on this so I know if it's worth
approaching the other library about their z39.50 settings.

Thank you
Rob
