According to the OPAC Specialist at IUG in San Francisco, changing the holdingsmsg on selected records (e.g., records for downloadable audiobooks) would be an enhancement request and is not currently possible. If you remove the token from the template, it is removed from all records without items, not just downloadable audiobooks. The specialist said there are libraries out there that have deleted the token and added a text message in its place which refers the user to the full record to see item availability.
If there are any libraries that have used this text message alternative to the token, could you please share your experience?
