Bobby,
Many who choose the Millennium product do so from a standpoint based
exclusively on how the application is perceived to serve the needs of the
library, and in many cases the III product, Millennium, does this very well.
Though a single entity is a much better fit than a loose collection of
libraries seeking to share the overall cost of ownership. Those evaluating
the product do not often address the "sticky" issue of security, the ability
to share the platform with other applications, and the ability to integrate
into a diverse network infrastructure. My experience has been that the sale
person will "over sale and under deliver", more the customer is often
directed to the "glitzy" workstation client software rather than giving a
good overview of the product including the working of the server software.
In summary, no software should be considered without the involvement of the
IT department, and the Millennium product has many design features that IT
personnel find highly distasteful.

Subject: Innovative Millennium

Hi,

I'm a SLIS student at Indiana University. I have to do a paper on an
automation system for a class, and I've chosen Innovative Millennium. I
just
was curious of the opinion the Millennium users have of the product -- the
pros and cons they've had, experiences during migration (from another
Innovative product or a non-innovative product), and the patrons' reactions
to
Millennium. These responses can be as detailed as you'd like. This paper
is
only going to my professor -- I have no intention of publishing it -- but if
you would like me to exclude your name and library affiliation, I'd be more
than happy to do so. Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,

Bobby Simic
