I have used this model magnetic stripe reader before:
http://www.posdirect.com/proddetail.php?prod=MINIMAG
though not purchased from this vendor. It worked well. I used the USB
interface version which I found easier to use than a keyboard wedge version.
This was on an XP Professional OS. It might be worth testing a USB model
before
a lot of them just to be sure there are no driver issues, especially if
using an older
Operating system.

Tennessee State University is in the process of implementing Innovative. We
need to purchase a machine that will read the stripe on the ID cards. In the
venacular, I believe this is called a "swipe machine" . I would appreciate
any recommendations you may have for this equipment.
