If you use McAfee, they offer an HTTP download site as well as FTP.

How do you block the traffic of other ports without affect public PC? For
example, you block port 21, then how do your public PC update their virus
definition and windows patches?
Can you share your printed sheet of instructions on settings?
Thanks
Yi

Yes - A careful reading of CIPA seems to imply CIPA applies to equipment
provided and owned by the library. However, we assign ptypes based on CIPA
without regard to whether a person plans to use our pc's or their own
laptop. We also think that parents who know our pc's are filtered for under
17 yrs of age expect our wireless to be filtered consistent w/CIPA so if
their 'tweens and teens take the family laptop for a spin at the library
parents won't need to worry. It's a battle we didn't want to have. I
neglected to mention we hand out a printed sheet of instructions on settings
and how to connect. Similar to another respondent, because it is not our
equipment we do not want staff to be involved in changing settings.

I am curious on which part of CIPA you interpreted to to mean that you
have to filter patron owned machines. When we went through the
different interpretations a while ago I remember it being pointed out
that we do not have to filter machines that the public brings into the
library. I will try and find out which interpretation that was from.
