The <A> is probably just a quirk in how html is processed. I tested and
found that HTML hyperlinks (HREF) work with both the <a> or the </a> to
close a hyperlink, aka anchor. This is probably because HTML sees <A> as
the start of a new Anchor/bookmark/hyperlink, thus closing the current one.

Karen,

I see what you are referring to and notice that your example page closes
every title link with the <a> tag. I checked your regular OPAC and our
regular and test OPAC's and found all of them have this html coding
error, yet somehow the links work when you click on them. I think it
only effects the characteristics of the class briefcitTitle tag as you
mention.

I notice Westerville is using the new OPAC and they don't have this
problem with their featured lists. We shall have to see what Kristen D.
Hewitt has to say.

Subject: featured list display problem

Has anyone noticed or solved this featured list display problem:

The anchor tag for the titles in the list never closes. Take for example
this snippet of code:

<span class="briefcitTitle">
<a
href=/search/++ftlist/++ftlist/1%2C1%2C1%2CB/frameset~1226679^bib27%2C1%
2C2%2C270/mode=2>On
Thin Ice<a></span>

The tag opens with <a href... but after the title Thin Ice, instead of
closing with </a> it remains open in a way with <a>

The links all work fine, but with the use of a hover style for the link,
the rest of the citation also exhibits the hover characteristics.

Here is an example in our testpac:
http://roc.rodmanlibrary.com:2082/search/ftlist%5Ebib27%2C1%2C0%2C270/mo
de=2

Is there a workaround for this or a fix?
