EPRICE via load table

Innovative is setting up a load table for us that will create order records from the 960 field of the downloaded MARC. We are working with Baker & Taylor as the first vendor but hope to get the load table to work with other vendors as well. We are currently having a problem with the EPRICE in the order record. We want B&T's discounted price to appear, not the list price. B&T uses the 960 $s for the list price. In order to change this pre-defined tag, B&T says they would have to change our MARC-III profile to "user selectible." However, doing this would cause problems with multiple-branch orders in that we wouldn't get the quantity per branch in the $t.

SO, we are left with using a different subfield for the estimated price. Therefore, we will have to get all of our vendors to use this same subfield for price.

Has any other library encountered this problem and how have you handled it? Or do other libraries not use the estimated (discounted) price from the vendor? If so, could you tell me why, since encumbering would be very inaccurate?

Thanks for any insight.
Vicki
