Faculty Employment Opportunities at the CSUH Library
POSITION AVAILABLE:
Systems/Access Services Librarian
UNIVERSITY LIBRARY
OAA Position N0.: 05-06 LIBR-INFORMTECH-TT
DUTIES OF THE POSITION : The appointee to this position will have
primary responsibility for overseeing and coordinating the planning,
evaluation, and implementation of the Library's information technology
systems, including the integrated library system, the library's evolving
web-site, and emerging Internet and digital information and
content-linking technologies.
S/he will also provide general supervision for access services whose
day-to-day activities are managed by two high-level library assistants
who direct the work of three FTE support staff and a varying number of
student assistants. S/he will collaborate with librarians and library
staff in investigating cutting-edge information technologies, as well as
take a leading role in long-range strategic planning for the Library's
future information technology needs. Duties may also include teaching
the Library's credit courses, and serving at the Reference Desk as well
as participating in rotational duties at the Contra Costa Campus.
Librarians enjoy faculty rank and privileges and are expected to
participate in the full range of Library faculty responsibilities and
activities expected of a member of the tenure-track. This is advertised
as a 12-month appointment.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Required: MLS from an ALA-accredited institution; excellent oral,
written, and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated ability to
work collegially in a diverse, fast-paced environment; demonstrated
experience in successful collaboration with other library and/or campus
units; experience with and/or demonstrated knowledge of library
automated systems, electronic information resources and tools, and
web-based technologies; familiarity with the principles of information
literacy; strong service and work ethic; and demonstrated commitment to
engage in research and/or continued professional development worthy of
promotion and tenure as a faculty member.
Desired: Web-design experience; academic reference desk experience;
demonstrated ability in classroom teaching; experience with an
Innovative Interfaces library system.
RANK AND SALARY : Senior Assistant Librarian/Associate Librarian,
commensurate with experience and qualifications.
