Peggy -- We move 240s to 700 fields by adding the author in |a and putting
the title in |t. The |t can still be searched as a title, but it does
not come up as the first title in any other searches.

Subject: Re: 240 and 245 fields in MARC record
Dear List,
Here is a problem we have. A book was first published in New Zealand
under
the title "Golden deeds". This title appears in the 240 field.
We have the US published book, title is "Strength of the sun." When you
go
to the shelf this is the title you see. This title is in the 245 field.
A patron brings home her receipt from the library and returns here to say
she does not have "Golden deeds" but that is what appears on her slip. If
someone were to place a hold on this book, we'd be looking for golden
deeds
and never find the book. We tried to search the database by golden deeds
and couldn't even find the book.
Please can someone tell me how we can do something about this. Because if
the object of a library is to help people find things, this is definitely
not working....
Thank you for your help.
Peggy
