Greetings all,

Before I opened a call with the Help Desk, I thought I'd poll the
collective wisdom of this group to see if anyone had any suggestions on
how to fix this.

We recently upgraded a workstation from Win2k to Win XP Pro (no SP2, but
probably SP1). Attached to the computer via a parallel port (LPT 1) is
one of our handy dandy Okidata ML320 Turbos, which we use for label
printing. After the upgrade, any attempt to print to the label printer
in Millennium results in output to the networked printer. All of the
settings in Millennium appear to be correct for the "Label printer"
option (including, most importantly, the selection of the label printer
as the output device instead of the networked printer, also available
and established as the "Standard Printer" in Millennium).

The computer will print to the label printer from all other programs
I've tried (test page, Word, Excel, etc.), causing me to rule out the
computer and list Millennium as the sole culprit here. Trying radical
things like changing the parallel port assignment in Win from LPT1 to
LPT2 also had no bearing on the condition. Even removing the networked
printer as a printing option altogether (by removing it from the list of
printers in Windows, then restarting the computer and Millennium to
ensure it wouldn't "see" it) STILL resulted in output to the networked
printer which, technically, was no longer there.

Drivers have been updated (we had the most recent Okidata version before
the upgrade), various printers have been uninstalled and reinstalled,
etc., all to no avail. We do have a workstation that does print to its
attached label printer under XP. The settings between these two
machines are in every visible way identical, causing me further
confusion in identifying the possible cause.

Does anyone have any ideas (even simple ones) that I may have
overlooked?

John
