Try searching the 2004 list archives for "AVS, Silver & Macs".  The 
messages from David Fuller and Cindy Harper both offer workarounds for 
parts of the Javascript in the search form which don't agree with some Mac 
browsers.  We implemented David's suggestion and our AVS form works with 
Mac/IE on OSX (and I think OS9).  Try ours at 
<http://www.library.lafayette.edu/search/X> to see if it works for you with 
Mac/IE.
