Interesting. We had the DNS problem with AOL early last year and got it
resolved. My IT told me yesterday that they had looked at the DNS and
it was still okay. I'll check into it again. Thanks for the info.

Jan,
Many ISPs now require that inbound email be from IP addresses that have
"reverse DNS" entries. That is probably what Verizon is referring to
when they say "they turn around and ask the sender to verify who they
are."
Your notices are sent from your Innovative server. It is called
innovative.cityofcarrollton.com (66.226.211.87). I did a reverse DNS
lookup at
http://www.dnsstuff.com/ and it indeed is not configured with
reverse lookup. This is a DNS issue that your IT department needs to
resolve. Maybe they don't realize that the email originates from your
Innovative server and are assuming it goes through their email servers
(which do have reverse DNS set up--that's why your email to Verizon
users goes through.)
Good luck!

Subject: Verizon Email
All email sent from our III server to Verizon and GTE accounts bounce.
City IT has talked to III and Verizon and back and forth and all around
for the last couple of months. Verizon says the email problem is at the
city's end. According to Verizon, when they receive email, they turn
around and ask the sender to verify who they are. This is to cut down
on spam. My city has tried numerous things but nothing has worked.
If I send email from my city account to a Verizon account, it goes thru
just fine. It seems to have something to do with the mass emailing. Is
anybody else having Verizon/GTE email issues? Suggestions? Thanks.
