I have had the problem with Verizon patrons. Fortunately we only have a few patrons with Verizon accounts. Since we are an academic institutions, most of our e-mail notices go to the university e-mail account for our patrons. Due to time constraints and since the number of bounced messages has only been a few, I have not pursued a solution.

I hope someone can throw some light on the subject.

Subject: Verizon Email

All email sent from our III server to Verizon and GTE accounts bounce.
City IT has talked to III and Verizon and back and forth and all around
for the last couple of months. Verizon says the email problem is at the
city's end. According to Verizon, when they receive email, they turn
around and ask the sender to verify who they are. This is to cut down
on spam. My city has tried numerous things but nothing has worked.
If I send email from my city account to a Verizon account, it goes thru
just fine. It seems to have something to do with the mass emailing. Is
anybody else having Verizon/GTE email issues? Suggestions? Thanks.
