Mandy,
Although I replied to your previous email you are asking slightly
different questions now, so I thought I'd add a couple of points (in
CAPS in the text below).

AS I SAID IN MY PREVIOUS EMAIL SHEFFIELD HALLAM IS DOING THIS. I
DON'T
KNOW IF THEY ARE DISPLAYING THE VALUES OF I-TYPES OR ANOTHER FIELD
(E.G.
OPAC MESSAGE) IN THE ITEM RECORD. I SUGGEST YOU CONTACT THEM TO FIND
OUT.

I THINK THERE MAY BE SOME CONFUSION OF "MATERIAL TYPES" FOR LIMITING
OPAC
SEARCHES AND "I-TYPES" FOR CIRCULATION PURPOSES. YOU CAN COLLECT
CIRCULATION STATISTICS BASED ON ICODES OR I-TYPES. SO YOU CAN USE THE
"I-TYPE" VALUE TO DESIGNATE TYPES OF MATERIAL OR USE ONE OF THE
ICODES.

I THINK IT WOULD BE BEST TO USE ONE OF THESE GROUPS (PROBABLY THE
FIRST)
AS I-TYPES AND THE SECOND AS ONE OF THE ICODES. NOTE THAT
"CIRCULATION
STATISTICS" OF E-RESOURCES ARE NOT PART OF THE EXSITING CIRCULATION
STATISTICS (IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!). SOME LIBRARIES USE THE
LOCATION
TO INDICATE THAT AN "ITEM" IS AVAILABLE ELECTRONICALLY.
