My understanding of the CybraryN product is that each computer with the CybraryN client installed does its own authentication query, so it's not one more SIP license, it's one more *per computer*, since III sells SIP per device using it (from the product catalog "Each device connected to the system requires a separate 310I interface." Unless you could get CybraryN to have an intermediary handle all the authentication, but I don't think that is their architecture. You should probe them further.
Does anyone else understand more fully III's SIP pricing structure? Is there a technical reason why Joe's one SIP interface wouldn't work? Each SIP purchase gets its own login and SIP gets its own section of the network access table. It seems like multiple devices could use the same SIP login. Would there be a problem with simultaneous requests? I understand why its in III's interest to charge for each SIP device, but I'm wondering if or what the technical justification is.

Subject: SIP2 and CybraryN
Has anyone had any success implimenting CybraryN descktop time management
and patron authentication using SIP2 RATHER than Innovative's Patron API? We
current use SIP2 for our self-check machines with no problem. After talking
with the tech support people at CybraryN, all we need is to have the patron
Barcode authenticated, SIP2 should do that, as it access the same file in
the Patron database that self check does.
Ideally we SHOULD be using patron API for this but getting a second SIP2
license for about 1/3 of the cost of patron API made sense.
Thank you...
