Hi Ann,
I am responding in part to some of the suggestions other users have
offered. The "best" way to do this really depends entirely on how your
location codes are set up. Excluding "multi" may or may not give you the
results you seek.
Here is an example where excluding bib records with a loc of "multi" would
actually exclude records held at my library:
Carleton & St. Olaf Colleges share a single III system. Carleton's
location codes run from c-czzzz and St. Olaf's run from o-ozzzz. We have
bib level codes and item level codes. In my situation, using loc=multi
would exclude some bibs that we do hold, since we have multiple bib level
codes for different collections within the Carleton library. e.g. If we
have multiple copies of a title in more than one collection -- say in
Reference (crb) and in Stacks (cbb), the bib location code will be multi
(cr & cb). Using "multi" as part of my search criteria would remove these
records.
Hope this information is of some help.
~Carol
