As an IT professional, I agree with your IT department 100%. Your IT
department
is simply following commonly understood IT securtiy best practice.
Password/IP
sniffing is a very real threat.
Not to editorialize, but perhaps, rahter than complaining to your IT
department
suprvisor about, you should sit with your IT coordinator and him her/him give
you a run down of exaclty how dangerous a place the Internet has become.
