RE: Disappearing entries in WAM table

Well this is certainly interesting. It makes one wonder what else is
hidden in the /screens directory. My first thought was why is it there
but I guess it gives staff a "read only" version.

Cynthia -- Thanks for sharing this with the list.

I had NO idea that the forward table was part of the /screens directory.
I better keep and eye out on that one.

The nice thing about this is that you can let people view the file by
going to http://utmost.cl.utoledo.edu/screens/forward and then viewing
the source (for a better display). I am going to share this with the
reference librarians and see if we are missing anything on the WAM
table.

Thanks to a very helpful Greg McCall at III, we found that we had
inadvertently created the problem ourselves. In creating a re-design of

our WebPAC, we'd copied the forward file (the III name for the WAM
table, I guess) back in August, together with other files, to the
staging server. When we copied them back to the "live" directory, the
copy created in August overwrote the current, updated forward file, and
that meant we lost all new entries since August.

We'd luckily kept our notices of new titles/services, so could
reconstruct the forward file appropriately. Check out CS Direct at:
http://csdirect.iii.com/faq/screens.shtml for more information. Lesson

learned - don't move all files in a directory when redesigning a WebPAC.
