RE: serials - supplement/index check-in

I use that feature of Mill. I use it much as you currently do in the
character-based system. Where it is useful to me is in binding, so that
I make sure that I have all of the items.

The main "trick" I can think of is to make sure that your cards are
really working well. Otherwise, have at it. If your cards are working
well for you in the character-based system, you should be fine.

Subject: serials - supplement/index check-in

Hello Everyone,

Our library will soon be switching from doing check-in in the telnet
client to Millennium Serials and I wanted to get some feedback on a few
new options that were unavailable in the telnet version.

In addition to the normal check-in card (which appears to have many more
options) you can also define a part of the card for supplements and
indexes. Is anyone currently using this feature? Any likes, dislikes
using these? Tips, tricks? In the telnet client we just insert a box
for the supplement in its appropriate place amongst the normal issues
then slightly modify the item record which is created. It seems as
though our old system of processing these would still work just fine,
but I would like to take advantage of these changes if they are
worthwhile.

Not intending to open a giant and perhaps animated discussion, any
hints/tips/tricks/etc. in general, for using Millennium Serials for
check-in after using the telnet client? Keeping in mind, we typically
have student workers do most check-in duties with staff assistance for
out-of-the-norm issues.

Thanks!
