Jim,
That worked great! Well, not the first time, but we gave the system and
java a few chances to crash, switched to 800X600, and pop-ups now work
great. Someday we may invest in a fresh video card, but in the meantime
will suffer with the low resolution.
Thanks for all your help, Innopac users!
Daniel

OK. We haven't had to do this for awhile, and this is based on
memory....
On computers with onboard video on motherboards with a Via chipset,
bump
down the video to 256 colors at 800 x 600.
This, of course, kills your browser and any other apps. We ended up
buying video cards and disabling the onboard video.

I think that Jim might have a good point on the video cards. The Java
Clients are graphic intensive and these are going to eat up alot of
your
available memory. Even though you have 512MB of memory on the
computer,
there might not be enough memory dedicated to the video card,
especially
if it is integrated.
If you are having the luck I am having these days, these two computers
are right under the Circulation Desk signs. For the sake of your
sanity, see if you can swap these two computer out with other
computers
that load the software.
Hope this helps.

Are the video cards different?
Two years ago there was a thread about adjusting the resolution on
some
types of video cards.

Subject: Silver Client Installation
Six more days until we go live with Millenium Silver (from Dynix), and
I'm having trouble installing the Silver client on two of our PCs. The
installation process works fine, and the program even boots up just
fine. Unfortunately, any windows that pop up with messages (Login
screens, Printer selection, messages, OK to logoff, and all the
others)
do not display the text or buttons. If I drag the message, the text
and
buttons appear, although sometimes I need to click where the button
was,
not where it is after dragging.
Anyway, this is an annoying little feature on only two out of ten PCs
in our building. And other libraries in our consortium are not
experiencing the problem. I've tried reinstalling and I've tried
rolling
my eyes.
Oh yeah, we're on a Novell network, with GroupWise running. Other
computers on Novell are fine once we boosted the memory.

Please help our Go Live succeed!
Thanks,
