III has a new product, Digital Signature Support, which I believe is 
available with Release 2005, that allows you to use a signature capture 
device to link a digital copy of a signature to a patron record.  For 
some libraries, this may be a more efficient alternative to maintaining 
patron records for the relatively few times you ever need to produce a 
signature.  Since so many credit card and other transactions are now 
done using digital signature, this should be as acceptable as the paper.
