Blank display from /search command

I'm in the process of revamping our catalog pages in the staging
directory, and I've run into some strange behavior regarding the /search
command. Any time I try to invoke the command, whether by manually
typing the URL or clicking a link with the URL, I get a completely blank
page. No errors. The really strange thing is that if I replace the
/search command with "/screens/opacmenu.html" the page displays as it
should.

I've reported this to III, but it's been sitting with the programmers
for a while now. I'm hoping that someone out there has experienced
something similar, and that the fix is some quick and easy code change.
I really want to avoid replacing all instances of "/search" with
"/screens/opacmenu.html" not because of the work involved, but because
the /search command should--in theory--work, and I'd like to know why it
doesn't here, rather than take the easy way out. Here's the URL to our
