spine label printing

OK everyone-

I see a message about spine labels on this forum what seems like every day.  Now I have one.  Using Guicat and an Epson FX870 we have the first label printing appropriately and all subsequent labels printing with the first line to the far right of the pocket label.  Something like this:

Good:  349.7303    349.7303
           1998          American Law Yearbook

Bad:                                                                    349
            1998        American Law Yearbook

It is only  one of the printers that has exhibited this behavior - all others are doing fine with the same settings.  Guicat has been reinstalled/re-started, settings checked and printer has been powered on and off and setting checked.

Any ideas?
