Position announcement: COMPUTER SPECIALIST, Staff Assistant

The University of Massachusetts Amherst seeks candidates for the position of
Computer Specialist. Under general supervision of the Coordinator of
Library Systems and Web Management, install, maintain, configure and support
hardware and software used by library staff and users. Respond to trouble
tickets and help to maintain the trouble ticket system. Function as part of
a collaborative, user oriented team in managing and supporting library
information systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:
? Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science or related major and 2-3 years
experience, or an Associates Degree in Computer Science or related major or
appropriate technical certification (s) with 3-5 years experience.
? Minimum of two years experience with windows operating systems
within a multi-platform environment.
? Working knowledge of Windows 2000 server, Office 2003 products, and
web browsers, ghosting software and back-up protocols.
? Strong service orientation and the ability to interact effectively
and work productively and collaboratively with a variety of departmental
colleagues and other Library staff.
? Familiarity with UNIX operating system preferred.
? Demonstrated written and oral skills essential.
? Excellent analytical and problem solving skills related to a
technical environment.
? Ability to troubleshoot complex problems with PC?s, scanners,
printers and other hardware.
? Ability to deal effectively with ambiguity, change and innovation
? Ability to set and adjust priorities, work under pressure, be
thorough and accurate, follow tasks through to completion, meet deadlines,
and work independently.
? Experience with data link protocols.
? Willingness to work some evenings, weekends and on an on-call basis
as required.

- $39,400

PROFESSIONAL STAFF SALARY ADMINISTRATION PROGRAM POSITION LEVEL 26
