- Subject: Re: LDAP for Staff Verification and Patron Lookup
We currently have LDAP set up for course intranet pages on a campus
server. We would be more interested in III's product if we could
authenticate for e-reserves access in addition to the items you have
mentioned below.

Greetings,
My understanding of the documentation is that LDAP (Light Directory Access
Protocol) can only be used for "External Patron Verification," that is, access
to My Millennium and other WebOPAC features. Nice, but very limited in scope,
and since it's an additional module to purchase, it might not be very useful for
our purposes here at Temple.
What *would* make it useful here would be the ability to use LDAP for staff
login (to Millennium functions) and for patron lookup at a service point. Can
the current LDAP functionality be used in this manner, or is my conclusion above
accurate?
I'm asking Innovative as well, but would like to know if anyone here is already
doing this.
Thanks,
Byron
