problem with diacritics when exporting from a review file

Has anyone on the list been able to export from Create Lists and have diacritics and special characters export properly? I'm trying to export fields from a review file in tab-delimited format to be used in an Excel file.

We've tried it from both Millenium Cataloging and the character-based INNOPAC (using Output user-selected format). We get differing results, but neither is satisfactory.

Here's an couple examples (I hope the diacritics come across in the message):

1.) "Jan{226}a{233}cek, Leo{233}s" becomes "Janá?ek, Leoš" when exported from Millenium but "Janacek, Leos" when we use INNOPAC.

2.) violin, B{169} clarinet becomes B[square] clarinet in Millenium and Bb clarinet in INNOPAC. (Note: [square] represents a character that looks like a small square. I cannot use ; and Bb uses a lower-case letter b, which is totally unacceptable because screen readers will, of course, read a lower case b)

I would be perfectly happy if I could get Millenium (or INNOPAC) to output the actual codes, because I already have a macro which will deal with them. In fact, the contents of the file are ultimately destined for the Web, so I would need to tweak the output no matter what format I get.

I would appreciate any suggestions.
