Mary,

We have a separate index ("g" index) for SuDocs numbers. Since our
entire federal documents collection is arranged in this classification
system, this is invaluable. As Documents Librarian, I need the stats the
SCAT table produces for determining item selections, weeding, and retro
cataloging projects. I have set up my SCAT table as follows:

We are considering adding an additional call number index for Supt. of
Docs. call numbers. Currently they are in our "other" call number index
with many other kinds of call numbers.
Does anyone have a separate index for Supt. of Docs. numbers? What has
been your experience with it? Do you have an index we could view to see
how it works? Do you use a Scat table for Sudocs and is it useful?


We are also thinking about arranging our Dewey call numbers by "Dewey
index
rules". Can someone who has done this fill me in on how the call
numbers
are arranged, i.e. , do numbers come before letters? For example, 376.6
before 376 A58, or do letters a-z come before the decimal numbers 376
B58
376 R72 376.06 Am2 etc. ?
