Hi -- We have not had problems to my knowledge. The Circulation staff
at the University of Toledo are not shy about letting me know about
problems with the system!
To add to what Stan and Eileen said, I would try to document every time
it happens (if it is possible) for the helpdesk. Furthermore, I would
keep the call open and encourage them to review this more closely.
Where we have had problems is with our network dropping and Milcirc
losing its connection with the server. We almost always have to restart
the client when that happens.
One thing to remember about calls to the helpdesk is that they can be
reopened. There have been instances where I have had to document
problems extensively to show them that the problem was not fixed. The
computer that is running Milcirc should be able to handle it just fine,
and since it is at the circ desk, it probably does not have much else
running on it. We did have students who loaded all sorts of junk on the
PC at the circ desk until we limited their rights. That slowed down
Millennium, but did not choke it. The funny thing is that the worst
computer you can find at a junkyard could run telnet pretty effectively!
Hope this helps --

MilCirc is frequently crashing/freezing, several times a day. There are no particular circumstances when it happens.
Is anybody experiencing this? Any thoughts or suggestions?
Other modules seem to be working OK.
We are on the Millennium Silver 1.0 release.
We are using Dell PCs with Pentium 4 (1.7 GHz) and 256 MB RAM.
The help desk has not been able to do or suggest anything.
Thanks,
Bob
