You can prohibit patron requesting for specific locations, item types,
etc. by entering 'request rules'. You can either have III do this for
you [via a Service Commitment - see Circulation/ Holds] or you can do
this locally if you have someone on staff who has taken III's
specialized Advanced System Administration Training.
See the manual #101211 and #101221 for more information on the request
rules. You can view your current settings in the telnet interface as
additional system options in the Management information about the system
menu.

You can set the maximum number of renewals in the loan rule for course
reserve items to "0" if you don't want patrons to be able to self-renew
these items. You can also make these items unholdable. Staff can
override renewal and hold blocks if they are passworded to do so.
If you set the "Check loanrule at time of renewal" option to "Yes" make
sure to set the other renewal variables elements to handle staff
override
situations. See the user manual #101940 for more information.
