It means that you have at least one item record that has no location.
You can see how many you actually have if you do a statistics cross-tab
report (on items) that has "Location" on one axis.
Finding and fixing are harder. You have to create a list of items with
the criteria
Item location not equal to A and
Item location not equal to B and
Item location not equal to C and ... including ALL your
existing item locations! (Tip: make this a "Saved search"!)
Then you have to go through the list and try to determine what the
location of each item should be. If you are a big library with lots of
branches you are in for a big job. In our case, we were fortunate that
most locations were obvious based on classification, bib location, and.
in a few cases, order location.
Finally, *check all your templates*!! Make sure that there isn't some
item template lingering somewhere that has no location -- this was the
source of our problem.
Good luck! --ann

Subject: system messages
Okay. I'm calling on the collective brains to help me learn something!
I got an interesting system message on my System Status Report, view
system messages, this morning. On the list of system messages to view
was one that said "Bad item location list - NONE" What does that mean?
Is there a list anywhere that I can look at when I see a message I don't
understand? I tried to look at the manual, but most of what I came up
with there were messages that we generate (notices, etc.) not what the
system itself generated. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!
