Laura:
Our IT Specialist had a similar experience with one of our customers.
He suggested asking patrons having problems connecting to databases if
they have installed Service Pack 2 for Windows XP.
If they have, ask if they have any spy-ware detection, firewall or other
security software. If so, have them try turning it off or uninstalling
it. If they can connect, that means the problem is with the other
software not working correctly with Service Pack 2.
Microsoft has a tollfree number to assist people who have Windows XP
Service Pack 2 issues. It is 888-772-4357.
