It's been my experience that the 099 won't index correctly unless you
use a 2d indicator of 9. If you were to put your DVD prefix in as a
label rather than as part of the call #, the 050 should work fine.

Call Number: DVD DT 87.45 .N44
<<<

The DVD is being treated as a prefix and is being dropped from the
index. This is because the rest of the call number looks like an LC
number:

099 DVD|aDT|a87.45|a.N44

You should try a different format for these numbers anyway (what's up
with all those |a subfield tags?). As long as that second part after the
DVD looks like a possible LC call number, the indexer is going to ignore
the DVD. See #101832.

You'd be much better off going with a numbering sequence like your VHS.
They're just shelving locations after all, right?

David
