Re: Featured lists

Our first attempt at making a practical use of the Featured Lists is for New Acqusitions lists for each of our five libraries. On DRA, our old system, I had setup a program to create an HTML that pre-sorted by library, then material type, and then call number, with anchor links to each section. This made the lists extremely easy to use for our staff, faculty and students.

I'm finding the limitations of the Featured List a little irksome in that I would like to have a search and/or sort feature that appeared on the Featured List page. As mentioned by others, the only option currently available is to create a large number of small lists and use up lots of review file slots in Create List.

Am I missing something (we are very new to III - only live for three months now) or are several enhancements called for to make Featured List much more functional and user friendly?

We put in a call regarding this because we used the "Locate" box to put in
the first word of a title so we could get directly to that section of the
alphabet. The response was that this was removed due to an enhancement and
we'd have to request a new enhancement to put it back. It sounds like we
had the same complaint only worded differently. It's much harder to scroll
through the list now. IMHO a good enhancement would be for the Featured
Lists to generate alphabetical links instead of page links. I guess I don't
have a clear understanding of what the "enhancement" was.

Subject: Featured lists

Hi all,

I used to be able to link to Specific parts of a featured list and thus
create A-Z links/lists to databases and electronic journals. I have been having dialogue with the
helpdesk and they have said no one else has complained about this functionality being
removed by Silver. Was I the only person using Featured lists in this way??
