Karen -

Not sure why it differs from your experience, but to access Syndetics information from our catalog ( http://alec.icpl.org/search/ ), I've had to enter the provider's URL (syndetics.com) to the "allow pop-ups" lists in Mozilla Firefox and Safari, not our catalog's URL.

I was recently looking at WebOPACs to see how others were displaying
Syndetics information and discovered something that I wanted to share.

I use Netscape 7.1 with the pop-up blocker enabled. On the catalogs that
use the option to open a daughter brower, which is in essense a "pop-up"
window, to display the Syndetics information, the screen would
temporarily flash and then take me back to the catalog record.

In IE 6.0, no problem - no pop-up blocker.

When I went back to NS 7.1, I noticed the pop-up blocker icon in my
status bar. I added the remote catalog to my accepted list and then the
additional information window opened fine.

I hadn't experienced this problem on our catalog because we use frames
to display this information.
