Re: Silver & WebOPAC Restart Problem

This isn't quite the same thing as I had experienced/reported. Our
'restart' issue is specifically after a server reboot. This also
appears to be what University of Arizona & Minneapolis Public experienced.
I haven't seen any delays with restarting individual processes.

Silver introduced a new webserver restart.
We had some beta experience and took a look.
The original restart issues an internal UNIX kill -9 (basically terminate
with extreme prejudice)
A bit Excessive when the most common restart is to make a configuration
change. The new one sends the server some kind of a polite request. From the
pattern I hear reported it sounds like it may be waiting till it has a break
in use?

Subject: Silver & WebOPAC Restart Problem
We re-started our Innovative server last night but after 20 minutes the
WebOPAC still had not re-started. We called Innovative and they restarted
the WebOPAC in a minute or two for us. But the report I get from our
server
admin who called Innovative was that this was a known issue with Silver
and
that if we just waited longer the WebOPAC would have restarted. I can't
find this in the known issues list. Has anyone else noticed this issue
after the Silver upgrade?
