Hi, Amy. We've had no real problems at WSU with imaging the Millennium
client at least. We're not allowing telnet, so we've been imaging Putty or
SSH (for secure connections) for those types of connections. One thing that
we did encounter was, if you're setting up ghosting or images for labs where
you want some things locked down from users, the Millennium client seems to
require that file configurations are set up so that it can write to its own
directory. There was also an issue we encountered with GUICAT's
connections, if you use GUICAT still (we're not on Silver yet), and you
could write to me if if you'd like to get some hints about that. Otherwise,
we've had no issues or problems arise yet by doing this.

Subject: Millennium & telnet clients as part of re-imaging

Our Computer Services department has determined that it is in our best
interest to reimage every computer on campus, including the library staff.
Computer Services has asked me whether the Millennium client and telnet
client, Anzio in this case, can be included as part of the reimage. I have
no clue whether or not this can be done. If it can be, it would save me
from having to reinstall these clients at every station, but I do not know
where to begin the research of finding out .... so I thought I would start
with the knowledge and experience of those on this list.

Has anyone had any experience with reimaging entire departments? Can
Millennium and telnet clients be incorporated into a computer's image? If
so, are there specific set-up procedures I would need to follow in order for
this to happen? Any problems, concerns or other general advice?

Thank you ever so much for your assistance.
