Folks --

Some new functionality in Millennium Silver did not make the User's Manual. (No...this is not the Innovative Easter Eggs that people have been talking about).

One of the new functions in Create Lists (in Millennium) is that you can create a review file based solely on a range of records. Essentially, you tell the system what the range of records you want and it records all of them inclusively. The uses for this enhancement are numerous. If you record the last record number keyed in a month or day, you can use this to find records created since yesterday or last month. For something not entered as much (patrons for example), you could create a review file of all new records over the past month or the past year. Previously, you would have to enter a bogus search that would capture everything. This approach is much faster and ensures that every record will be included in the list.

This is not documented in the User's Manual, so here are the steps:

1) Go | Create Lists.
2) Choose an empty review file.
3) Choose the Search Records button from the Review Files tab.
4) Enter title, store record type, and the record selection (range, review file, index, or advanced)
5) Do not enter search terms (the lines of and'd or or'd terms); instead, choose 'Search'.
6) If you have not entered any search terms, the system will prompt : "No search criteria have been specified. Retrieve all records in range?". Answer yes to retrieve all records.

This will also work when appending records to a review file. When doing this, you may also want to dedup the file to make sure that duplicate entries to the review file are not inadvertently added. You can also use the functionality for merging, as per Page # 105957.

Hope this helps.
