Corey--
Thanks for the reference. I must have missed the message. I will
forebear asking why the system tells me to look at something that isn't
there unless it's turned on, which in our case it clearly isn't. Sigh.
Thanks again!
Steve

Steve -- This was just on the list.
I would post my response to that questions, but Matt Ciszek's was not
only better than mine...it actually had the answer!

He suggested contacting the helpdesk to have new options placed on your
system for viewing the -el flag error messages.

Subject: What the heck is an "-el flag"?
I have a file of MARC records from a vendor that I would like to load.
However, the vendor sent me 219 records, and when I preprocess the file,
one record turns out to be invalid. I would like to find out which
record is invalid so that I can ask the vendor to resend it. How do I do
this? The only information I get when I preprocess the file is:
NUMBER OF INPUT RECORDS - 219
NUMBER OF ERRORS - 2 ( use -el flag to see messages )
NUMBER OF INVALID RECORDS - 1
NUMBER OF OUTPUT RECORDS - 218
So what the heck is an "-el flag" and how do I use it to "see messages"?
I don't want to load these records until I know which record is the
problem, since the vendor may have to resend the entire file, with the
one record corrected, and I don't want to load these records twice.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks,
Steve McLaughlin
