A question came to me recently about how to get the Section sign(for
legal citations) to display in our WebOPAC bib records.

The Innopac internal code provided is 807 and was found in the manual at
"Printing Diacritics and Special Characters" (Page 101353).

The "section sign" was listed in the table with header: Special
Character Chart for ISO Latin 2, for use with Eastern European
languages (e.g., Polish, Czech)(based on Windows Code Page 1250).

I have seen threads on the printing of diacritics but what can we do to
get these characters/symbols to display?

The code was placed in curly brackets {807}, but that does not do the
trick?

Thanks for any enlightenment. Even if it can't be done, that would be
useful to know.

Nathan,

I'm no expert but I think you just need to add a few extra statements to your criteria to compare null values as well as the fields values (if i've understood you correctly!), i've also take out one of your fields as i don't think it's needed. If i've got it wrong it should hopefully steer you in the right direction ;-)

Try

SELECT [titles-unique].Journal, EBSCO.AcadSearch, IWU.AcadSearch
FROM ([titles-unique] LEFT JOIN IWU ON [titles-unique].Journal = IWU.Journal) LEFT JOIN EBSCO ON [titles-unique].Journal = EBSCO.Journal
WHERE (((EBSCO.AcadSearch)<>[IWU]![AcadSearch]) AND ((IWU.AcadSearch)<>[Ebsco]![AcadSearch])) OR (((EBSCO.AcadSearch) Is Null) AND ((IWU.AcadSearch) Is Not Null)) OR (((EBSCO.AcadSearch) Is Not Null) AND ((IWU.AcadSearch) Is Null))
ORDER BY [titles-unique].Journal;

Cheers

Jeff

Corey,

Is there any more time to do the IUG enhancement voting? Or is the
cutoff midnight July 3, 2004?

We have a few groups in the consortium who still need to vote.

Thanks

I got a couple of private emails about this. Since we have received a book
with the Euro symbol as the first character in the title, I thought others
may want to know the answer. {492} is the correct code. It works in
Millennium (don't know how to try it in text-mode). {128} which is used
in some systems does not work.

Thanks everyone.

Deb (and others),

As you will see on the IUG enhancements page

http://innovativeusers.org/enhancements/

the ballot is scheduled to close on July 2, 2004 at 5:00PM Pacific
Daylight Time.

We appreciate that in large libraries and consortia it takes time to
coordinate all the votes. This is why we announced the ballot and
deadline in good time more than 6 weeks ago.

We hope as many IUG members as possible will take part in the ballot but
need to set a deadline to work to so we can close the ballot and add
up the votes.

One or two sites seem to be experiencing problems with confirmation
email. If you have not voted already please don't leave it until the
last minute! Please contact Corey or myself if you have any
questions or problems. (Corey is currently away without a computer!)

Mieko
