Giles--
This might be a time to try using the INDEX feature in Create Lists. I
don't use it much, but you should be able to select your call number
index, and then do a "between" search to get the desired result.

Subject: Stats by Call Numbers for Weeding
We're doing a major weeding project as we work on plans for a new
building.
Our librarians want to get out Circ Stats by call number ranges -
basically
just looking at things like TOT CKOUT and INTL USE from the item
records.
When we tried doing a search either by Call number (c) or MARC Tag (!
090|a)
and the between (w) option we get some call numbers that have the letter
we're looking for in the Cutter numbers portion of the call number, but
don't
start with it. The sorting seems a bit off too: we might have SBs, SDs,
then SF's,
then more SB's when we told it sort by call number. Any thought on why?
Anyone have any good search strategies for us on what we're trying to do
(look for things within ranges -either all S's or Q-QB, etc.)? We're
open to suggestions
as what we're getting from what we've tried isn't quite there.
Thanks.
