I tried 260 |c >= 2000 and the same with the 008.  I received things which had like 1974 in the 260 $c.

Could you be more specific about how you're searching, and what wrong 
records you're getting?  In general, it's much easier to work with the 
date in 008 because it's a single, simple four digit number.  For this 
search, Date One > 1999 should work.

The problem with the date in 260|c is that it's in a string of text that 
may or may not have other data, like a c or p preceding the date.  But 
in this particular case, how about doing 260|c MATCHES 200[0-4]  ?  That 
would find every record with 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 or 2004 in 260|c.
