A related question - How do you get Millennium to stop asking if you
want to perform duplicate checking? Is it possible? I'd like to just
tell it once instead of always getting a dialog box that I have to
answer.

Yes, on the telnet side you can set up new item records for duplicate
checking on barcode. Access this under M - I - S - D; the particular
function is called: "New Item Record: Duplicate Check on Fields ... "
and you specify what field you want. We check our new item records for
duplicate "b" (barcode) fields.
This setup done, when you attempt to add the same barcode in Millennium
a second time, Millenniumn opens the item record of the already-existing
occurrence of that barcode, with a message across the top of the screen
stating "Duplicate record(s) found" so that you know what that barcode
is already assigned to in your system. If this info is okay, you can
close this screen, and you'll go back to the new item record you were
attempting to add (with the duplicate barcode), so you can cancel adding
the duplicate, or change the barcode to a new one, whatever you want to
do.
