We've added a IMessage that can be added when a patron is abusing their reserve privileges. The IMessage says "DO .NOT. RENEW"... In the past, we used to use post-it notes saying to not renew.

Here's a good one:

Our circulation supervisor has reported a problem this term with repetitive checkouts of reserve items (i.e. a person checks out a reserve item, brings back to desk when reserve period is over and immediately checks it out again. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. :-) preventing others from getting it. 

Of course the solution is to have the workstudies not do it in the first place, but...

Any way of rigging the system to prevent this? I doubt it, but toss it out to the group just in case. It would involve a restrict list either on the item or the patron, and some time-sensitive system function, no? How about the material booking module? We don't use this at present.

Always something weird going on that stems from human behavior that we need to find a technical fix for, eh?
