HEAD OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY/SYSTEMS LIBRARIAN

UALR invites applications for the position of Head of Information Technology/Systems Librarian, a faculty appointment with rank, leading to tenure. The successful candidate must demonstrate skills in both automated library systems and instruction. Also necessary is a strong commitment to patron services.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include but are not limited to: manage, budget, supervise, coordinate, plan, implement, and service the library's various information systems operations, including the integrated library system (Innovative Interfaces), ILLIAD and UniPrint; provide technical expertise, support, and training for library automation planning and development; coordinate the training of library staff in the use of information technologies; support and manage 150 workstations and several servers in a Windows environment; develop Internet, network and web-based applications; performs upgrades; coordinates release documentation and manages implementation of new features; supervise one FTE and student assistants; serve as the library's liaison to campus computing services. Position reports to the library director.

REQUIREMENTS: ALA- accredited MLS degree; demonstrated/documented evidence of successful management of computer systems projects and networking, knowledge of MARC and OCLC record structures, web design and support skills; excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED: Experience with an integrated library system such as Innovative Interfaces, Inc.

SALARY: $ 42,000 for 12-month appointment with TIAA/CREF, standard life and dental insurance, and a flexible benefit plan. Position available beginning June 1, 2004.
