Good for you, Sharon, that you could check the size for the software
partition disk at your site. I suspect that was what the letter meant
when it said space is not enough. I wish the letter could be more
specific to avoid all the confusions and speculations.

I got an email about this, too. We're a software only site, and we got
a
new server last year with tons of disk space. When I set up the disk
partition for the /iiidb/software disk partition, I basically tripled
the
size recommended by iii for the partition when I set up the system. I
thought I was sitting pretty with a 6GB partition when the recommended
size
was 2GB, but I guess I'll have to think about reallocating disk space to
get
to the 12GB they're now saying it may grow to! At least I'll be okay
with
the initial upgrade to Silver, since they only need 3GB for that.

Subject: Silver release size
Hi All
I am a bit intrigued that no one else has addressed the group about this
yet. Who else got a letter from III that says their system isn't large
enough to go to Silver without new drives.
When we got our system, not that long ago (although I guess that is
relative
in computer terms - late 99) we were oversized and are currently using
only
about 22% of the capacity. Now we are told that we need drives that are
12
times bigger than what we have!
Exactly how large is this release going to be and what are the
improvements
that make it such a huge piece of software? (We have looked at the
preliminary enhancements list and it doesn't seem anything
out-of-the-ordinary.)
We will probably upgrade, but still, we wonder at the size requirement,
and
if anyone else has the issue, and what they may plan to do.
We are a turnkey system running on Release 2.3.
