Peter:

I am not quite sure about your situation. When you say that when you have a login only with the receipt printer option, you mean that you do not associate that login with other printers in your list of printers?

To me, the way to solve that problem is to associate that login with another printer. So when you choose to print receipt and when your receipt printing is enabled direct text printing and it is local, it will send the printing job to the attached printer. Is yours serial or usb? If usb, check the archive, there are some traffic on it. I got it to work here thanks for the information provided by Steve from CA.

Then if you have other jobs to print, choose the other printer and make sure the enable direct text printing is not enabled. That should route the printing job to the other printer. I got it to work here. Contact me off the list if you want.

Todd-

Thanks for your reply.

We do not have a printer with a fixed IP available.

Changing the default printer in Windows has no effect. Millennium always will print to the receipt printer, even if the default printer is set to another printer entirely. Or, even if the receipt printer is not installed in Windows.

Using an A-B parallel switch box (having a "normal" printer shared with the receipt printer) does not work either. Changing the A-B box accordingly, then going to File -> Select Printer -> Standard Printer -> Local then selecting the local attached printer also does not work. I should say that Millennium does send a print job to the "normal" printer, but the print job stalls before anything prints (printer works fine through Windows). It seems like Millennium is configured only to print to a receipt printer, which has a specific paper size and dimension.

Tried hooking a printer up via USB. Also does not work.

Any thoughts?

Two known ways for us:

One is to set a network printer with fixed I.P. as the second printer.
Two is to minimize your window and change the default printer to the other unit; this is not preferable but may be necessary if no network printer is available. You can also configure this within Millennium (2003 phase 3) from the file printer options.

A possible third way: I have not done this due to lack of need, but if each printer were on a different port it may be able to switch between them by selecting a different unit from your defined printers. This might also work for shared printers also. I would say yes, but am unsure of your settings and configurations.

In addition, be certain your sys admin has setup these additional printers and attached them as available options to the logon names.

For those of you with receipt printers, is there a way to toggle between a receipt printer and a "normal" Windows printer?

What I mean to say is that our staff want to be able to use a receipt printer AND a Windows based printer to print information from Millennium.

Currently, we do have a Millennium "receipt printer login" setup that gives staff the ability to print to a receipt printer. Unfortunately, when staff login with this particular login, there doesn't seem to be an option to print the information from Millennium to any other printer other than the receipt printer.

In other words, even when staff try to select another printer, besides the receipt printer, the information from Millennium always goes to the receipt printer.

Hopefully there is a way to toggle back and forth between a receipt printer and a regular, 8 ½ X 11 printer.

Thanks.
