Horayyyyy ( not yipeee...)
Yes it works. I have two things to add if anyone wants to try this out:
To find out your computer name, if you are on windowsXP, right click on
the my computer icon. You will see your computer name.
Also when you issue the command net use lpt1 ,
Remember what follows is a complete line, no break, i.e.
\\mycomputername\printername
To have your TM 88III USB to autocut:
pull up the printer properties and then click on printing preferences,
and then click on paper/sources and choose report[partial cut] as the
setting. The printer will autocut.
This is great, Thanks, Steve.

Subject: USB printer success
USB printer works in Millennium!!! Yipeeee!
A while back I asked for any assistance with getting our USB
connected receipt printer to work. One member mentioned that they use
our same USB printer model (Epson TM 88III), but their central site set
it up. If I had not heard from this one person, I would've sent these
printers back a looooong time ago and swapped out for the
serial/parallel model.
If I were going to buy one now, I would certainly not go for a
USB model until Innovative brings it into their support umbrella.
But, if you have (or still want) a USB receipt printer, here's
how we finally got ours to work. This should work with any USB printer
model, because technically your printing to a shared printer that just
happens to be plugged into a USB port.
1) Get the USB printer to print in Windows. This is kind of a
"duh" but the point is to take this a step at a time.
2) Once you get a test page to print to the USB port
successfully, go to the printer properties in Windows and Share the
printer (e.g. my_printersharename).
3) Note your computer name (e.g. my_computername)
4) Get to a command prompt and type the following: net use lpt1
\\my_computername\my_printersharename /persistent:yes
This command redirects printer output from the parallel port
(lpt1) to the shared printer.
Note: In the Users manual, there is a note that says printer
output is in 3 columns unless the output is going to a 40 column
printer, then each field is output in rows. The only way to let
Millennium know about a 40 column printer is to use the Direct Text
printing option in conjunction with setting the option that tells
Millennium the printer is 40 columns. Direct Text printing sends the
print job to a locally attached device, specifically the printer
attached to parallel printer port LPT1.
5) In MilCirc, Open Millennium Login manager. Choose Printing
tab, In Receipt printer options, check "Enable direct text printing"; In
Direct Text Printing Options, check "Printer...is only 40 columns wide".
You can also set the "Number of lines to eject".
Hope this helps.
