Subject to Millennium Enhancements List, why not?

In technical point of view Millennium printing features needs some developing.

Couple of missing printing features in the Millennium Client side
- There is no real support for client printing environment (client side support for both local and network printers)
- Why still some print jobs like paging list cannot be printed to client printer (only to server side system printer)

In Java printing is possible to print also 2D images, so why not develop some basic features also to Millennium client printing?

You can read more technical information of Java printing: http://java.sun.com/printing/

This is an excerpt from White Paper Printing Help for Java Developers

Executive Summary
End users expect to be able to print to printers attached to local machines or to the network itself. The applets and applications they use may run in concert with a browser or directly on top of an operating system itself. There may be server code somewhere on the network that these apps/applets use (especially thin clients). In all cases, users expect to be able to print from their desktop to any printers on their network.
