- Subject: Patron address mailing label printing
Hello. We are about to go live and a fix I had hoped for didn't pan out. I
run a Books By Mail service--everything we do gets mailed. Most patrons will
probably begin to request online--we almost never have walk-ins like a
regular library. Every time we circulate something we need to produce a
mailing label. I want to avoid having the staff go out to the
character-based side of the software to create complicated lists of stuff.
I am trying to figure out the easiest way to print patron address labels,
even one at a time. Surely Millenium has at least one clunky burdensome way
to print patron address labels? I am willing to buy a dot matrix printer
and attach it to every staff workstation that needs one.
Held Item Delivery seems to do part of what's needed, but we are the only
ones in our consortium to require the mailing feature and our system can't
afford the package for everybody. (Brilliantly, the Homebound module, which
was purchased, does nothing very useful that I can figure out. If anybody
is actually using the Homebound module for something I'd love to hear from
you.)
I have searched the user group archives, but haven't found anything that
answers my question.
Thanks very much for any help,
Melora
