IUG 2004: heads-up for Session J4

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]
Hello, everyone --

This is a heads-up for anyone considering attending Session J4 -- "A New
View of Subjects in INNOPAC/WebPAC: Recommendations of the Subject Analysis
Committee." It will be very helpful for you, if you have the time, to have a
look in advance at the ALCTS Subject Analysis Committee document under
discussion.

The SAC report, formally titled "Recommendations for providing access to,
display of, navigation within and among, and modifications of existing
practice regarding subject reference structures in automated systems"
(December, 2003) is at:
http://www.ala.org/ala/alctscontent/catalogingsection/catcommittees/subjecta
nalysis/subjectreference/RefStructuresFinal.doc (this is, of course, an
example of ALA's shortened URLs!).

In the IUG session, we will provide a basic overview of this report, but in
an hour there won't be time to discuss it in real detail. So again, if you
have an interest in the topic you'll be better off at least giving it a
look. (The report is 22 pages long.) You'll find a link to the program
materials, including our handout, at
http://www.innopacusers.org/iug2004/programs/J4.

Thanks for considering this.

Best wishes,
